Modi-baiter Yashwant Sinha star guest at Professional Congress meet

Kochi: Former Union minister and former BJP leader Yashwanth Sinha will participate in a debate on the state of the Indian economy in the aftermath of the demonetisation of the high-value currencies. The programme is being organised by the All-India Professional Congress (AIPC) here on Sunday. Sinha, who quit the BJP early this year, will answer the queries raised by the participants at the third edition of the programme named Hot Seat.

As the impact of the demonetisation is still palpable in the various sectors of the economy, the debate on the topic 'Demonetisation is a Disaster, Economy in Tatters' aims to expose before the public this failed financial measure of the Modi government. Sinha, who will be on the Hot Seat, will share with AIPC state chief Mathew Kuzhalanadan and others his views on the ill-effects of demonetisation as well as the other failures on the economic front during Narendra Mod's tenure as the PM.

The event will be live telecast on the AIPC's Facebook page. Interested people may join the session online and post their queries. Select queries from the Facebook post too will be answered by the Hot Seat guest, Sinha.

For political watchers, the attendance of the BJP veteran and staunch critique of Modi and his radical demonetisation programme at an event being held by a Congress body is an exciting turn of event, especially as the next Lok Sabha polls approach.

The event, which is scheduled to be held at the Bolgatty Palace at 6 pm on November 18, will be attended by about 40 prominent people from the sociopolitical fields.

The unique Hot Seat programme, which is an alternative to the typical political meets, discusses burning social and political issues in the country. Noted personalities from various fields attend the regular AIPC meets. This Congress platform enables professionals, who can't be active political workers, to express their views.

Leading media personality Rajdeep Sardesai and top lawyer Indira Jaisingh were on the Hot Seat in its first and second editions, respectively.
