Mobile tower records nail accused in Kevin case

Kottayam: Two more private mobile phone service providers gave statement in the court that the mobile phones used by the accused in the Kevin murder case were within the range of a mobile tower at Mannanam, near hear, at the time of the crime, further strengthening the prosecution's case.

The mobile phones used by the second accused Niyas Mon, third accused Ishan Ismail, seventh accused Shifin Shajad, ninth accused Tittu Jerome, 12th accused Shanu Shajahan and 13th accused Shinu Nazar were found to be within the range of the mobile towers at Mannanam, on the outskirts of Kottayam town, where Kevin was living and also at the area in Kollam district where Kevin’s dead body was found in May 2018.

The internet connection of the mobile phone used by the third accused Ishan Ismail was found switched on during the whole day the crime happened.

The movements of Ishan from Mannanam in Kottayam to Punaloor in Kollam during the night when Kevin was kidnapped and later while returning to Kallar by early morning have been recorded according to the tower location based on the internet connection.

The prosecution is planning to treat the presence of Ishan at the location of the crime as evidence.

The mobile phone of Tittu Jerome was found within the range of the tower locations at Mannanam, Medical College and Kallar. The mobile phones of Niyas, Shanu and Shifin were found within the range of mobile towers in Kottayam, Mannanam and Kallar.

The phones of some other accused were found to be switched off during the journey.
