Kerala cabinet approves 28 additional fast-track courts to handle rape, POCSO cases

Thiruvananthapuram: The state cabinet has approved 28 additional fast-track special courts to handle cases that fall under rape and the POCSO (Protection of Children from Sexual Offences) Act.

Once the courts start functioning, Kerala will have 56 fast-track courts exclusively for POCSO and rape cases.

The staff panel and appointments will be in accordance with the existing system at the fast-track special courts (POCSO) in the state's 14 districts, the government has said.

A district judge, senior clerk and bench clerk positions will be set up. Besides, the posts of Confidential Assistant and Computer Assistant/LD Typist will also be created on a temporary basis.
