Kerala levelled the T20 series in Oman with a thrilling 1-run win in the second match in Muscat. Oman Chairman's XI had won the series opener by 40 runs.

Saly Samson led Kerala posted 166/9 and restricted Oman to 165/8 in 20 overs. Kerala picked up five wickets in the last three overs to upset the hosts. All-rounder Saly is the elder brother of India star Sanju Samson.

Vinayak Shukla (58) and Mohammad Nadeem (43) had Oman in control going into the 18th over, needing 20 to win.

K M Asif gave away seven runs, and more importantly, dismissed Shukla. Akhil Scaria's 19th over was the turning point as after getting Nadeem in the second ball, the right-arm pacer from Kottayam removed Zikriya Islam the next ball and then bagged the wicket of Hussnain Ali Shah in the penultimate ball. In Scaria's final over, three Omani wickets fell, while just two runs were scored.

Asif was entrusted with the final over, with Oman needing 11 to win. The hosts made nine off the first five balls, but Asif clean-bowled Jitenkumar Ramanandi in the final delivery of the innings to script a brilliant win. The series decider will be played on Friday.
