Nithya Menen to play Jayalalithaa in 'The Iron Lady'

Ever since former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa passed away, there have been attempts by various filmmakers to make a biopic on her. A couple of projects have been announced as well.

The latest one to announce a biopic is director Priyadarshini, who also revealed the first look poster of her upcoming film. Titled 'The Iron Lady', the film will star Nithya Menen in the titular role.

The tagline on the poster reads, “A story of revolutionary leader.” The poster also has a quote from Hillary Clinton, American politician, on Jayalalithaa. “She is an incomparable and strong determined leader, and she has been an embodiment of women empowerment,” the former First Lady of the US had lauded the Tamil Nadu leader.

Jayalalithaa, the former AIADMK supremo, was touted as the 'Iron Lady' though she is popularly referred to as Amma, meaning mother.

It is said Varalaxmi Sarathkumar, daughter of yesteryear Tamil star Sarathkumar, has been approached to play the role of Sasikala, the influential aide of the deceased leader.

Priyadarshini has worked as the associate of hit filmmaker Mysskin in several films.

The biopic is being produced by Papertale Pictures and the title logo was revealed by AR Murugadoss on social media.
