Thiruvananthapuram: The death of violinist Balabhaskar and his daughter in a car accident would be subjected to a detailed probe, Kerala police chief Loknath Behera said. The Director General of Police (DGP) ordered the probe after the violinist’s family raised certain doubts regarding the circumstances of the early morning car accident at Pallippuram on the national highway on September 25.

Balabhaskar’s father C K Unni and relatives had met Behera and Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan to ask for a follow-up probe into the accident. The DGP has asked the crime branch to help the local police help in the investigation.

The relatives wanted to know what prompted Balabhaskar to urgently return to Thiruvananthapuram in the middle of the night. Balabhaskar died in a hospital on October 2. His two-year-old daughter Tejaswini Bala died on the spot.

The car was found to have veered off the road and hit a tree. Balabhaskar suffered injuries in the head, neck and back. He underwent two surgeries but he could not be saved.
