Money saved for son's wedding donated to build house for poor family

Narikkuni: Setting a fine example, a couple decided to avoid extravagance in their son’s wedding and use the money to build a house for a poor family.

CPM leader and retired agricultural officer P C Ravindran and wife Beena, who is the headmistress of Vivedoayam LP School, Padinjarethara, donated an amount of Rs 4 lakh saved for their son’s wedding to provide a house of Pykaad Meethal Girija and her two children. Girija and kids are now staying in a shack covered with tarpaulin sheets.

When Narikkuni local committee of the CPM decided to build a house for the family, Ravindran and wife donated the money for the cause.

Bijul Ravindran, son of Ravindran and Beena is a research scholar at Mumbai IIT. The foundation stone for the house was laid by CPM district secretary P Mohanan.
