Kottayam: An elderly Kerala woman and her granddaughter were killed in a road accident in New Jersey in the US.
Chengannur native Mariyamma, 73, and her granddaughter Sofiya, 5, were the victims.
The accident happened at 3.30 pm Thursday. Both Mariyamma and Sofiya died on the spot. Mariyamma's husband Thomas was driving the car and was critically injured in the accident. Thomas has been admitted to the Morristown Medical Centre. The funeral will be held on Sunday.
Mariyamma's children are Mini, Giby and Tinu. Sofiya is Tinu's daughter.
