Goonda list in God's Own Country grows by 557

Thiruvananthapuram: The Kerala Police has updated its goonda database by adding 557 more to the list.

Pathanamthitta district has the highest number of fresh history-sheeters (171) followed by Thiruvananthapuram rural (76).

Interestingly, the Kochi City police limits have not contributed to the list between December 18, 2021 and January 31, 2022.

According to the official records there are at least 2,750 goondas in Kerala, of whom 701 are booked under KAAPA (Kerala Anti-Social Activities (Prevention) Act, 2007).

Kerala has reportedly witnessed a rise in goonda menace. Recently, one even carried the body of a youth he had murdered to a police station in Kottayam.
