Thiruvananthapuram: In an effort to hasten the reorganisation of the party apparatus at the district levels, Kerala Pradesh Congress Committee president K Sudhakaran has set February 5 as the deadline for its office-bearers and District Congress Committee (DCC) presidents to hand over the draft list of names.
Sudhakaran's much-touted DCC revamp has been lagging for several months now with infighting and a slew of controversies making up most of the headlines.
Now, the KPCC leadership has given a strong directive after the reorganisation at the party district-level planned for the last month went awry.
The KPCC leadership also asked for the list of block presidents.
The leadership also said that there would be changes at the block-level too after the revamping of district and state committees.
Earlier, the KPCC general secretary in-charge of each district was asked to visit their respective district and hold talks with the DCC president and senior leaders of the party before preparing the draft list of office-bearers.
Though the KPCC office-bearers undertook this exercise, it did not become fruitful as the 'A' and 'I' groups sought more clarity on the revamp.
The reorganisation move had then to be abandoned due to lack of support from all quarters.
An overhaul of the Congress was brought on the anvil after the party's humiliating defeat in the 2021 Assembly elections wherein their rivals, the CPM-led Left Democratic Front (LDF), won an unprecedented second term in Kerala's highest office.
