Palakkad: At least 18 people were injured as a Kottarakkara-bound private bus from Bengaluru plunged into a paddy field at Nallepilly in the district in the wee hours of Monday.
The injured passengers were immediately taken to Chitoor Taluk Hospital and Government District Hospital. They have received only minor injuries as per reports.
None of the passengers are in critical condition, the police said.
About 40 passengers were on the bus named Atlas Travels that had started from Bengaluru on Sunday night.
The accident occurred around 4 am on Monday.
The locals, who rushed to the accident spot, took many of the injured out of the bus by breaking its window panes. Later, Fire and Rescue personnel arrived and lifted the bus using crane.
