Celebrating jack fruit recipes: the 'Chakka Paattu' song will leave you drooling

It has been less than a decade since the notion of being a 'foodie' or a gastronome has earned a positive connotation.

Before Instagram, Uber Eats and the umpteen delivery apps, foodie was not a thing to be bragged about. But times are changing.

Both cooking and eating out are being celebrated now like never before. So does the memories. The taste and aroma of your favorite food always take a fare share of your nostalgia.

Memories of the good old days always have a whiff of the delicacies that we once cherished.

For a Malayali, Kappa and Chakka tops the list of their favorite 'throwback' dishes. This song from the upcoming movie Kuttanpillayude Sivarathri also celebrates Malayalis' love for jackfruit aka chakka.

Kuttanpilla, the lead character played by actor Suraj Venjarammoodu, is such an avid 'chakka' fan that he prefers jackfruit tree over his on children as per the song penned by poet-lyricist Anvar Ali.

Meanwhile, the women in Kuttanpilla's house are seen engaged in sundry culinary activities like chopping and dicing the raw and ripe jackfruit brought by the men to make sweet jackfruit jam in the song.

Singer Sayanora Philip, who debuts as a music director with this song, has arranged the track in a folk-music pattern.

The song celebrates a number of jackfruit recipes, from chips to chakka varattiyath, by showing their preparation in a the most enticing manner possible.
