Thiruvananthapuram: Outgoing KSRTC managing director Tomin Thachankary said that he loved the state transporter like a sweetheart.
The IPS officer who steered the money-losing corporation for 10 months leaves with a reputation for paying the employees on time every month. The latest payslip on Thursday included an increment in dearness allowance.
Thachankary’s exit was as musical as his tabla-playing entry 10 months ago.
He chose a sad song to accompany his farewell speech on Thursday. He said that he had never vied with anyone to be the managing director of the KSRTC.
“I loved the KSRTC like a sweetheart. I have only satisfaction while I look back. I have no ill will towards any political party. I do not think that anyone had erred. If I have hurt anyone in my attempts to revive the KSRTC, even they have supported me later on,” he said.
Thachankary said that officers better not see the institutions they manage as their own if they did not want to be frustrated later on.
The corporation has distributed Rs 22.63 crore along with salaries by way of dues of NDR, LIC, PF and NPS.
One of Thachankary’s proposals as the CMD, a fleet of electric buses, was included in Thursday’s state budget.
