23 COVID deaths in Kerala on Saturday; death toll nears 1,000-mark

On a day Kerala reported its highest single-day spike of 11,755 new COVID cases, twenty-three COVID deaths too were confirmed.

The deceased are Aisha Beevi (51) from Poovachal in Thiruvananthapuram, SP Nathan (79) from Manakkad in Thiruvananthapuram, Abdul Hasan Hameed (70) from Kuruvilpuram in Thriuvananthapuram, Parukutty (82) from Kovalam in Thiruvananthapuram, Sainulabdeen (60) from Peroorkada in Thiruvananthapuram, Peter (63) from Valiyaveli in Thiruvananthapuram, Mohammad Shanavas (47) from Poovachal in Thiruvananthapuram, Krishnamma (76) from Pettah in Thiruvananthapuram, Sumathi (61) from Tirumala in Thiruvananthapuram, Vijayan (76) from Kollam, George Kutty (53) from Anchal in Kollam, Josy (77) from Moolamkuzhi in Ernakulam, Nabeesa (78) from Thoppumpady in Ernakulam, Pathumma Ali (86) from Ezhipuram in Ernakulam, KP Prakashan (64) from Vennala in Ernakulam, KG Thomas (64) from Vallarpadam in Ernakulam, MK Muhammad (97) from Perumbavoor in Ernakulam, Satyabhama (55) from Chendamangalam in Ernakulam, Sheela Peter (67) from Kadavanthra in Ernakulam, Papayamma (50) from Attappadi in Palakkad, Beeru (65) from Ponnani in Malappuram, Priyesh (39) from Kalkandi in Palakkad, and Aboobacker (85) from Thayyil in Kannur.

This brings COVID death toll in the state to 978. Though more deaths were reported, the State is yet to ascertain them as COVID deaths. Tests are underway at National Institute of Virology in Alappuzha.
