Thiruvananthapuram: A few days after the brutal murder of gangster Sudeesh by a rival gang, again goons have gone on the rampage in Pothencode in Thiruvananthapuram.

This time, Idavilakathu Veettil Shaik Muhammed Shah and his 17-year-old daughter, who were travelling in a car, were stopped at Pothencode Junction and assaulted by four goons after accusing the duo of not providing a side for their car. A little earlier, the goons created ruckus in front of a bakery and a beer parlour in the town.

The incident took place at around 8.30 pm on Wednesday. Shah, along with her daughter, was returning home in their car after dropping her wife at the workplace. The gangsters' car was tailing theirs. Under sudden provocation, the goons rushed to the Shah's side, abused him verbally, accusing him of not giving side for their car.

Shah was also beaten up by the gang.

The daughter tried to capture the scenes on camera. This provoked them further. They went to her side and started verbally abusing her. They also caught hold of her hair and pushed her down. The daughter, who alighted from the car, tried to call the police over the phone. Sensing trouble, the goons fled from the scene.

The father and daughter were admitted to the Nedumangad Taluk Hospital. They sought police cover once they realised that goons were behind the attack.

The vehicle used by the accused was found abandoned on a nearby road.

The Police later found from the CCTV visuals that the gang was led by Faizal, 24, of Mubina Manzil near Vellur at Koythukonam. He is the first accused in the case in which around 100 sovereigns of gold were stolen from a gold merchant at Pallipuram CRPF Camp area by throwing chilli powder on his face and then beating him up.
