Keralite dies after 147 days of COVID treatment in UK

London: A 44-year-old Keralite business entrepreneur died after undergoing treatment for COVID-19 in the UK for 147 days.

The victim was identified as Geomon Joseph, son of P M Joseph and Thresyamma Joseph of Ponkunnam in Kottayam district.

He had undergone treatment at the Queens Hospital in London and Royal Papworth Hospital in Cambridge. Though he was cured of the infection, he continued to be under treatment with ventilator support due to lung ailments.

Geomon is the 17th Keralite to die of COVID-19 in the UK.

He was a KSU worker and union chairman at the St Dominics College at Kanjirappally in Kottayam. He was also involved in social causes.

Geomon is survived by wife Smitha, children Neha, Niyal and Catherine.

His family are making efforts to hold the funeral at his native place. The relatives are hopeful that the mortal remains can be flown back to Kerala.
