Thiruvananthapuram: Thirteen Kudumbasree units will bring 150 chefs to the Malayala Manorama Ananthapuri Mela which opens on Thursday. They will offer exotic items with local flavours from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod.
Minister J Mercykutty Amma will inaugurate the festival at the Putharikandam grounds at 5pm Thursday. The 12-day long festival will be open from 1 pm to 8.30 pm. On Saturday and Sunday the stalls will be ready by 11am.
Kasaragod's chicken, beef sukka
The Al Ameen Kudumbasree unit brings Kasaragod's own special chicken and beef sukka. Thulunadan chicken curry, ney pathiri and nadan pathiri items will also be available.
Malappuram herbal chicken
'Chathikkatha sundari' or 'the beauty who doesn't cheat' is the herbal chicken item that Malappuram New Star unit will showcase. Different types of dosa and chutney will also be on offer.
Kannur's own biryani
The Pratheeksha Kudumbasree unit of Kannur brings batura and chicken items but the special is their Thalassery Dum Biryani.
Fish variety from Kollam
Roasted pearl fish, crab roast, tapioca biryani, chicken pirattu etc are the items from Kollam Trupti Catering unit.
Taste of Malabar
The Tanima unit of Malabar will present the culinary delights of the region. Among specials are chicken items.
Payasam range
The Ruchippura Kudumbasree unit of Kozhikode brings a variety of payasams.
Alappuzha's own appam and duck
The Anugraha unit of Alappuzha is offering palappam and duck curry. Fish curry and tapioca are also on their range.
What the capital offers
The Soupranika unit based in the capital city presents tapioca biryani, beef dry roast, pathiri, chappathi, idiyappam etc.
The Samudra unit comes with sea food. The podi chicken curry brought by Samji unit will be a special attraction for food lovers. Masala dosa, ghee dosa, egg dosa, meat dosa and thattu dosa are also available. The Keerthi unit's items include appam, chicken kolli, chicken curry etc.
Juices
Seven different types of gooseberry juice are a special delight at the festival. The Sneha Kudumbasree unit from Pathanmthitta will showcase guava juice too.
