How about making those ah-so-yummy gulab jamuns at home? The best ones are soft, slurpy and sweet, free of lumps. All it needs is a bit of deft work to serve the goody to family and friends.
Ingredients
For jamuns:
1½ cups milk powder
¼ cup maida
1 tablespoon rawa
½ teaspoon baking powder
½ teaspoon baking soda
2 tablespoon milk
1 tablespoon ghee
1 lime extract
For syrup:
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
½ teaspoon cardamom powdered
2 pinch pepper powder
Preparation
Mix together milk powder, maida, baking powder, baking soda, rawa, ghee and extract of half a lime
Add in warm milk and make it into a soft dough
Keep aside for ten minutes
Roll into small balls
Boil sugar and water and as it warms up add the cardamom and pepper powder and allow it to boil over a low flame
Mix in the extract of half a lime
Fry the balls in boiling oil till they turn golden nut brown
Dip the brown balls into the sugar solution
Keep the dish closed for 15 minutes
Note: See that there are no hollow gaps inside as you make the balls
Fry gently, lest they should crumble
