Jakarta: India's poor run in Asian Games badminton continued as Kidambi Srikanth and H S Prannoy were knocked out of the men's singles competition here on Friday.

Vietnam's Vincent Wong Wing shocked world No. 8 Srikanth 23-21, 21-19 in straight games in their round of 32 tie.

Though Srikanth had his chances in both games, he failed to capitalise on them and crashed out.

World No. 11 Prannoy was stunned by 20th-ranked Thai Kantaphon Wangcharoen 21-12, 15-21, 21-15 as the Indian challenge came to an end in men’s singles.

The Indian men had lost to Indonesia in the quarterfinals of the team event, while the Indian eves were shown the door by Japan in the same round.

Meanwhile, Ashwini Ponnappa and Sikki Reddy moved into the women’s doubles quarterfinals with a 21-17, 16-21, 21-19 win over Malaysia’s Lee Meng Yean and Chow Mei Kuan.
