Nadayara says no to hartal

Nadayara
People of Nadayara are united in shunning hartals though there are people with different political inclinations in the village, said the traders.

Varkala: Hartals have never downed the shutters of Nadayara, a small place near here in Thiruvananthapuram. A hartal day is like any other day for the residents and traders of Nadayara, and the hartal supporters would be brought to their knees if they try to disrupt normal life in this village.

Even when the nearby Varkala town and surrounding areas become standstill on a strike day, Nadayara, which is a main junction on the Varkala-Parippally route, will be bustling with activities. The shops will remain open on hartal days and they are a great relief to people in the nearby places and travellers visiting the famous Varkala beach.

People of Nadayara are united in shunning hartals though there are people with different political inclinations in the village, said the traders. The traders’ perseverance and will power had prevailed over the protestors’ efforts to close the shops on hartal days in Nadayara.

Whenever a political outfit calls for a hartal, Nadayara sends out a strong message against the strike in its own way.
