Meppadi: Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan, who visited the house of slain CRPF personnel VV Vasanth Kumar at his house at Thrikkaippatta in Wayanad district on Wednesday morning offered his widow Sheena a job in Kerala Police. On Tuesday, the state government had announced a solatium of Rs 25 lakh to the deceased soldier's family.

During his visit the chief minister offered Sheena a sub inspector's post in the Kerala Police if she was interested. Sheena, however, preferred not to take up the police job and instead requested Pinarayi to make permanent her temporary job as an assistant at the Kerala Veterinary and Animal Sciences University based at Lakkidi in Wayanad district.

Sheena preferred to stick to her current job, considering the age of her children and their well-being, but the chief minister asked her to reconsider her decision.

The chief minister was accompanied by his wife Kamala Vijayan, ministers EP Jayarajan and Ramachandran Kadannappally while meeting the bereaved family members of the slain soldier. Pinarayi reached Thrikkaipatta after landing at a ground in Meppadi in a helicopter and was also accompanied by MLAs CK Saseendran and OR Kelu.

Currently, Sheena and children -- son Amandeep (5) and daughter Anamika (8) - are staying at the ancestral house of Vasanth, along with his mother and other relatives. Reportedly, the couple's own house at Lakkidi has some legal issues owing to discrepancy in the title documents. Sheena apprised the chief minister about this and he offered to intervene.

The CM also said the government was ready to construct a new house for the family.

Forty CRPF personnel were killed on February 14, in one of the deadliest terror attacks in Jammu and Kashmir when a Jaish-e- Mohammed suicide bomber rammed a vehicle carrying over 100 kg of explosives into their bus in Pulwama district.
