Build houses for flood-hit, not 'women's wall': Senkumar

It's my wish: Senkumar on taking part in 'Ayyappa Jyothi'
Former DGP Senkumar

Thiruvananthapuram: Former Kerala police chief T P Senkumar said the ruling CPM had no reason to be concerned about his association with the 'Ayyappa Jyothi'. He termed the unique campaign to be held on Wednesday evening as a collective action by some Hindu groups to spread light.

The former police officer said that the people who challenged him on the issue were the same people who tried to frame him with false allegations. He said that he had a constitutional right to take part in any activity even if some people did not approve of it.

Senkumar, who went to the Supreme Court to claim his post after he was removed as the police chief, said that the Left Democratic Front government should focus on building houses in flood-ravaged areas rather than organising a “women's wall” on the pretext of highlighting Kerala's renaissance values.

About 2,000 people were still put up in refugee camps and the government could easily build houses for them with available funds, Senkumar said.

Senkumar will light a lamp at Kilimanoor as part of the state-wide 'Ayyappa Jyothi' on Wednesday evening.
