Binoy's mother Vinodini meets complainant in Mumbai: reports
Binoy Kodiyeri has refused to undergo a DNA test in connection with the sexual abuse case filed against him.

Mumbai: A frantic bid to settle the sexual abuse against Binoy Kodiyeri, the son of CPM Kerala state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan, is likely on. Binoy's mother Vinodini Kodiyeri, has reportedly met the woman who accused him of sexual abuse in Mumbai. It is said she rushed to Mumbai in order to work out a compromise deal and met the complainant.

It has also come to light that the woman's family members had informed Kodiyeri Balakrishnan about his son's affair. They alleged that though Kodiyeri did not respond to the allegations, Binoy threatened them for taking up the matter with his family.

Meanwhile, the woman who is a former bar dancer and a native of Bihar, gave her statement again at the Oshiwara Police Station after Binoy's lawyers pointed out that there are discrepancies in her statement.

'No DNA test'

As the Mumbai police have intensified their efforts to take Binoy Kodiyeri in custody, he has refused to undergo a DNA test in connection with the sexual abuse case filed against him. Binoy’s advocate gave this reply in court after the public prosecutor, who appeared for the woman complainant, sought action to take Binoy in custody for the paternity test.

The woman had alleged that she had been sexually exploited for years by Binoy under the pretext of marriage, and that she had an eight-year-old son in the relationship.

Binoy's advocate had contended that this was a fabricated case. The advocate said that the woman was trying to extort money from Binoy and that earlier too she had raised similar allegations.

The plea was considered at the Dindoshi civil and sessions court in Mumbai.

Search on in Thiruvananthapuram

Meanwhile, Mumbai Police came knocking on the doors of a property owned by him in the heart of Kerala's capital, Thiruvananthapuram, but he was unavailable. The cops were however denied nod by the Kerala Police to search a flat owned by the CPM at Mudavanmugal, though the woman who has complained about prolonged sexual abuse against him had mentioned this as one of his addresses. It is said the flat is part of the AKG Centre, the headquarters of the ruling party in Kerala. The cops visited the area around the flat and returned.

The Mumbai cops, who are still conducting searches in Kerala to find Binoy, have been reportedly asked not to divulge the details of their investigation with the media. The city police commissioner said that there was no official communication about the Mumbai cops' visit.

Bail unlikely

Meanwhile, the cops would issue a lookout notice against Binoy as they suspect that he might try to flee the country.

As the police intensified their efforts, Binoy has also stepped up efforts for getting the anticipatory bail. Binoy is trying to avoid arrest by securing bail.

The court in Mumbai will pass the judgment over his anticipatory bail plea on Monday.

However, as serious charges have been slapped against him, the chances of getting an anticipatory bail look bleak, it is said. The police have pointed out that the evidence collected from the woman was enough to arrest Binoy.

The woman had filed a complaint with the Oshiwara police station in Mumbai. Oshiwara police sub-inspector Vinayak Yadav and Devanand Pawar had initially reached Kannur in northern Kerala after the cops received evidence of Binoy and the woman having lived together in Mumbai. Binoy's house at Kodiyeri in Kannur is under lock. The police gave notice, seeking Binoy to appear for questioning, at the neighbouring house.

Binoy's phone is switched off.
