Gas tanker crashes into 3 vehicles in Kannur; 9 injured

Kannur: A gas tanker from Mangalore lost control and overturned on Pazhayangadi Bridge here on Wednesday morning. The tanker coming from Mangalore lost control and hit three vehicles before overturning.

There is no gas leakage, authorities said after preliminary investigation. The bridge has been closed for travel since the accident at 1:30 am.

The speeding tanker first collided with a traveller returning from Kozhikode, comprising Kanhangad residents. The driver’s swift reaction narrowly spared them from a severe crash.

The gas tanker then proceeded to hit two more cars, before coming to a halt. The eight passengers in the traveller, who sustained injuries in the accident, are now being treated at Pariyaram Medical College. The driver of the tanker, Prashanth Kumar from Kollam, also sustained injuries and is receiving medical care.
