Anoop is an employee at the collectorate while his wife is a teacher. The couple’s new house at Malappuram, Kerala is so stunning that it instantly grabs anyone's attention. The old ancestral home that had stood on the plot was demolished as time had begun taking a toll on the old structure. The area, meanwhile, stands out for its tranquil atmosphere and lush greenery. The family wanted a pleasant abode that blends well with the serene surroundings. The classic style of traditional architecture merges with the panache of the contemporary style on the elevation. The projected roof that has been inspired by a ship is the highlight of the elevation. Meanwhile, the tropical and minimal theme perfectly suits the climate of the area. The credit for designing this wonderful abode goes to Yuuga Designs based in Manjeri.
The car porch is built separately from the main structure. Both the structure and the car porch have truss roofs paved with tiles. Interestingly, the compound walls that aren’t too high do not block the view of the house from the road. The short wall has wire mesh panels on it. Meanwhile, the front yard has been paved with baby mettle.
This splendid abode, designed in 2800 sqft has a car porch, it out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with work area and four bedrooms. The unique furnishing is what makes the interiors shine. From chairs, cots and couches to the semi partitions and stairway, most of the furniture pieces and other décor sports wooden panelling on metal frame. Meanwhile, vitrified tiles have been paved on the floor.
Designer jalis in mud finish, near the entrance, is truly eye catching. The interiors look and feel vaster as they have been designed in the open style. Meanwhile, cool breeze and sun shine enter the house in abundance through the metal windows. So, there is no need to switch on the lights during the day as the spaces are well lit with natural sunshine.
A metal partition is what separates the formal living area and the dining area. Adding a rustic charm, a wall in the formal living area has been highlighted with exposed brick cladding. The furniture was made on the site as per the measurements.
A door in the family living area leads to the adjacent patio. There is an amazing air flow in the house when this door is opened. Interestingly, mud bricks have been paved on the yard here.
The dining table designed in the bench concept is made by paving wooden panel on metal frame. The two courtyards are the highlights of the interiors. One is just beside the dining area while the other courtyard is arranged behind the stairway where the double height ceiling is an added benefit.
One could enter the double height courtyard from the dining area through a sliding glass door. This area is decorated with beautiful indoor plants adding a hint of greenery. Meanwhile, the stairway is built by fixing wooden steps on metal frame. The courtyard and a pooja space too have been arranged in the area behind the stairway. The lower half of the double height wall here is pasted with brick cladding while the upper half boasts of elegant mud jalis. The sun rays that fall through these jalis create an enchanting art work of light and shade on the walls. The amazing charm of the courtyard and the pooja space could be enjoyed through a glass window from the master bedroom.
The modular kitchen is compact and everything is arranged within the hand's reach. An adjacent work area completes the kitchen.
The bedrooms are simple and extremely functional. The bath attached bedrooms have in – built wardrobes too.
The wall behind the house where the Buddha statue has been placed is elegantly highlighted. Moreover, metal grilles too have been installed for the creepers to climb. After some time, this area would turn into a haven of greenery in this house.
The family vouches for the great ambience of the house that help them relax. Their relatives and friends too have now become admirers of this mesmerizing home, that they often visit to enjoy the calming atmosphere and the amazing features.
