Sabik Abdulla, an expatriate, is thrilled that he had built his dream abode in his hometown in Tirur, Malappuram, Kerala. The owner had wished to build a house that looks similar to his cousin’s brand new house. Moreover, he wanted his house to have all the modern amenities too. The designer drew a plan that was similar to Sabik’s cousin’s house and then made minor changes to suit the likes and preferences of the family.

The house stands on a 22 cents rectangular plot. The structure features a box-style elevation to make it space-efficient. The exteriors don a rustic look that exudes an old-world charm. However, the interiors boast of chic spaces and modern facilities.

Designed in 3000 sqft, this splendid abode has a car porch, sit out, formal and family living areas, dining space, kitchen with a work area and four bedrooms.

Cladding walls in shades of grey and GI louvers act as attractive design elements. The car porch, meanwhile, has been built away from the main structure. The front yard is paved with natural stones and grass in alternate layers.

A double height courtyard is what separates the formal and the family living areas. Shiny pebbles are paved on the floor here. Besides, an indoor palm that is planted in the centre adds a hint of greenery too. Meanwhile, the spaces around the courtyard are illuminated with golden sunshine that comes in through the skylight.

Interestingly, the family living area is designed in the sunken style, below the floor level of the rest of the interiors. The dining area, that has a double height ceiling, is close to the beautifully furnished family living area. One could watch the TV that is installed in the family living area while enjoying meals on the dining table. A double height wall highlighted with brick cladding and an elegant crockery shelf are the eye catching features here. The same cladding design is repeated in the wash area too.

Two bedrooms each are arranged in both the floors. The bath attached bedrooms have full length wardrobes, bay windows and separate sitting spaces too.
