Kalpetta: A newly married man and his wife were hacked to death in their sleep early on Friday at Vellamunda at Kalpetta in Wayanad district.
The murdered couple are Ummar, 28, and Fathima, 20.
Chilli powder was found strewn beside the bodies. The police suspect robbery as the motive.
Ummar is the son of one Moidu of Makkiyadu house. Ummar's mother, who swooned on hearing the news, has been admitted to hospital. Forensic experts and the police are at the spot.
