Alappuzha: A 19-year-old man and 18-year-old woman who went missing from Thakazhi on July 4 have landed in police custody.

While the police were collecting information, both collapsed. They were taken to Alappuhza Medical College Hospital as they had revealed that they had consumed beverage laced with poison.

Both have been shifted from the ICU to the general ward as they overcame the critical stage.

The Ambalapuzha magistrate visited the youths to take their statement. The police said that they are considering slapping charges under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (POCSO Act) against the young man.

The cops had found them after they received information that the duo was at Ochira after visiting Pollachi and Tenkasi. They collapsed by 9 am on Tuesday during interrogation.

When the boy went missing, his father had reportedly consumed poison on Monday. He is also under treatment in the medical college.
