CM's relief fund crosses Rs 1,000 crore

Thiruvananthapuram: Generosity has breached new barriers. The total contribution to Chief Minister's Distress Relief Fund (CMDRF) has crossed Rs 1,000 crore on August 30. It stands at Rs 1,027.24 crore.

Of this, Rs 145 crore was received through the payment gateways of various banks. Through Paytm, the CMDRF received Rs 45 crore. It was the payment gateway of SBI that was used by the most number of people. More than 1.6 lakh people have used the SBI gateway till August 30. The HDFC bank gateway, too, is popular. 1.06 lakh people have contributed through the HDFC bank route. Nonetheless, it is through HDFC bank that a larger contribution has been made. If Rs 43.36 crore have been received through the HDFC bank route, it is only 42.54 crore that has come through the SBI.

The largest chunk of the contribution, Rs 610.73 crore, has fallen into the CMDRF account opened in the SBI. The contributions to other banks taken together is Rs 39.29 crore. Apart from this, the CMDRF has received Rs 185 crore by way of cheques and drafts.

All this does not include the funds deposited through the treasury, the money deducted from the salary of government employees, and their festival allowance.

As on August 30, 4.17 lakh people have contributed to the CMDRF online.
