Thiruvananthapuram: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted widespread showers in Kerala on Sunday and Monday. 'Yellow alert' has been issued in the hilly districts of Idukki and Palakkad in view of the weatherman's warning.
The Met department has also said there could be isolated heavy rain at several locations in the state.
Water level has been rising in the Pampa river after incessant rain in Pathanamthitta district. The road connecting Muvattupuzha with Punalur was getting waterlogged at Chethomkara junction, reports said.
Fishermen have been warned against venturing out into the sea as winds of 55 kilometre per hour are expected. The warning applies to fishermen on Kerala and Lakshadweep coasts until Sunday evening.
Kerala, which is still reeling under the destruction unleashed by the monsoon, is expecting the second major spell of rains soon.
