Kottayam: Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu on Saturday lauded Malayala Manorama's Akhila Kerala Balajanasakhyam for bringing unity among children and instilling in them a sense of service towards the society.
"I am delighted to be here. All the best wishes to the organisation celebrating its ninety years... Akhila Kerala Balajanasakhyam is a great organisation started by a great person doing a great service for the cause of the society," he said, after inaugurating the 90th anniversary celebrations of Malayala Manorama's Akhila Kerala Balajanasakhyam.
"Unity at all levels is the need of the hour and when you start from the childhood it will stay for long," he told the gathering at Mammen Mappillai Hall, Kottayam.
Malayala Manorama managing editor Jacob Mathew delivered the welcome address. Kerala Governor P Sathasivam presided over the function. Minister V S Sunil Kumar and Thiruvanchoor Radhakrishnan MLA were also present at the event.
Traffic regulations
Traffic regulations have been announced in Kottayam town and its adjoining areas in view of Vice President of India M Venkaiah Naidu visit Saturday. They will be effective from 10:30-11:15am and 12-1:45pm.
* Vehicles heading towards Manarkkad from Kottayam through KK Road should proceed to Kalathippadi via MC Road Nagampadam Chembarathimood–Vattamudu Bridge– Aimanathupuzha– Ponpalli.
* Vehicles heading towards Puthuppalli from Kottayam town should go via Vattamoodu Bridge– Kalathippadi–Karippal Junction- Rubber Board Junction.
* Vehicles heading on KK Road towards Ettumanur or Kottayam should reach Moscow Junction via Vadavathur Milma area and join MC Road near Chavittuvari.
* Vehicles heading towards Kottayam town from Puthuppalli should enter KK Road via Rubber Board Junction-Madhavanpadi and proceed to Chavittuvari via Vadavathur Milma - Moscow Junction.
* Vehicles heading towards town from Kollad Boat Jetty Junction should follow the Parakkadavu–Eramallur–Puthuppalli–Rubber Board Junction– Madhavanpadi route to enter KK Road via Rubber Board Junction and go via Vadavathur Milma - Moscow Junction. No traffic on Kollad-Kanjikkuzhi road from Boat Jetty Junction will be allowed.
* Vehicle heading towards the town from Eramallur, Nalkavala and Kaduvakulam should proceed via Divankavala, Manippuzha, Kodimatha. No traffic allowed from Divankavala towards Guest House Road.
* Vehicles on KK Road from Manarkkad and heading towards Changanassery should proceed via Manarkkad Junction–Puthuppalli–Njaliyakuzhi–Thangana.
* Vehicles on KK Road from Changanassery heading tgo Manarkkad should follow Manippuzha–Divankavala–Nalkavala–Eramallur– Puthuppalli-Manarkkad.
* Vehicles heading Ernakulam from Manarkkad area should go via Manarkkad Junction–Thiruvanchoor–Poovathumood.
Naidu, who is on a 2-day visit to the state, landed at Kochi Naval Airport at 4:30pm Friday. He inaugurated the platinum jubilee celebrations of Sacred Heart College, Thevara, Friday. The vice president will inaugurate the golden jubilee celebrations of Kollam Press Club at 2:30pm on Saturday.
