Mumbai: The Mumbai Police have recorded the statement of the woman who filed a sexual abuse case against Binoy Kodiyeri, the son of CPM Kerala state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan.
The woman, who alleged that she was sexually exploited for years by Binoy under the pretext of marriage, reached the Oshiwara police station to give her statement around 1:30pm Thursday. The police said they have received information that Binoy and the woman lived together at the flat and hotel.
The police said they would collect more information from the women, who worked as a bar dancer in Dubai. The team also said that it would complete the preliminary investigation within 10 days.
Mumbai cops in Kannur
The Mumbai cops, who reached Kannur in Kerala on Wednesday, have still not been able to meet Binoy Kodiyeri.
The cops had gone to Binoy's house at Thalassery in Kannur and served a notice, asking Binoy to appear for questioning. Binoy was not present at the house during that time. The cops also went to his house in Moozhikkara. The cops had reportedly tried to contact him several times, but are yet to get hold of him.
The Mumbai cops have sought the help of Kerala Police for further proceedings in the case, including finding Binoy. They also met Kannur Superintendent of Police (SP) and sought details on Binoy. The cops had also gone to New Mahi police station. The cops from Maharashatra have been asked not to interact with the media, it was said.
The Mumbai Police might take more stringent action if Binoy does not turn up for questioning.
As the cops might make arrests in the case, Binoy is likely to move the court for an anticipatory bail.
On the complaint filed against the woman by Binoy with the Kerala Police, the Mumbai cops said it did not fall under their investigative limits.
