Kochi: The Crime Branch has not disclosed the identity of the accused, who claimed that he had been at actor Dileep's house when an alleged conspiracy was hatched against the officers probing the 2017 actress assault case.

The Crime Branch is of the view that the probe would be affected if the identity of the accused, who is cooperating with the interrogation, is disclosed. The probe officer said that the details in this regard will be included in the report that will be submitted in the High Court after the questioning.

On Day-1 of questioning, this accused had corroborated that the conservation, as alleged by director Balachandrakumar, did take place at Dileep's house. But it is learned that the accused, who repeatedly said that he had no involvement in this, broke down twice during the interrogation on Monday. The accused, who has been under severe mental stress after the revelations on Day-1, did not talk much on Monday. This person has been given more time to relax.

If this person has to be made an approver in case, the confidential statements need be recorded before the magistrate, as per the legal advice received.

Pulsar Suni acted on Dileep’s directives’

The mother of Pulsar Suni, first accused in the assault case, has said that her son did everything as per the Dileep's directives. Shobana was speaking to media after giving her confidential statements at the Aluva magistrate court on Monday. Her statements were recorded by magistrate Annie Varghese.

Shobana arrived at the court after meeting her son Suni at the Kakkanad district jail.

"The events that happened are akin to a movie. Most of those involved are good at acting. Suni and myself do not know how to act. Suni is under a lot of mental distress in the jail. He fears for his life. Like Balachandrakumar, several people are ready to speak out the truth. But they are not coming forward for fear of threats and attacks,” Shobana claimed.

Digital devices

The probe team has reportedly obtained more evidence from the digital devices that were seized from the houses of Dileep and co-accused in the conspiracy case. During the interrogation on Monday, questions were also asked about some financial deals made by Dileep and co-accused after the examination of witness began in the assault case.

Statements of Balachandrakumar to be recorded today

The Crime Branch on Monday questioned actor Dileep, brother Anoop, and brother-in-law Suraj in the conspiracy case on Monday. They were questioned separately and together.

Other two accused Baiju Chengamanad and Appu were also questioned in detail. The questioning was based on the recent phone calls of the accused and statements of some witnesses.

The staff of Dileep's production company, Grand Productions, were also summoned to the Crime Branch office. The five accused were questioned from 9am to 8pm on Monday as well, according to the High Court's directives.

The Crime Branch is also examining the allegations raised by Dileep and co-accused, questioning the veracity of Balachandrakumar's statements. An explanation will be sought from Balachandrakumar on these allegations when he turns up for recording his statements on Tuesday.
