Wayanad: A man died after clashes in front of a beverages (BEVCO) outlet at Kalpetta here on Tuesday.

The deceased is Nishad Babu, 40, son of Thengumthodi Koya, a native of Edaguni near Kalpetta.

The incident occurred at noon. Two residents of Kalpetta, Kottaram Shereef and Kottaram Shabeer, have been arrested in connection with the death of Babu.

According to police, Shereef and Shabeer were part of a four member gang that had been booked for consuming liquor at a public place earlier.

After leaving the police station they returned to the outlet, where they met Babu. They had a heated argument with Babu at the entrance of the outlet that ended in a scuffle.

The fellow passengers forced him to get medical attention and after getting down at the New Bus Stand, he collapsed. Though a police team rushed him to the General Hospital, Babu died around 5pm.
