Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala Administrative Reforms Commission Chairman and veteran CPM leader V S Achuthanandan has criticised the Left government in Kerala for convening a meeting of various organisations to the discuss the issue of allowing entry to young women at Sabarimala temple.
“Class struggle cannot be carried out by imitating the customs followed by the proponents of Hindutva. Trying to earn the support of caste organizations is not something that the Communists should be doing,” he said.
The government has decided to organize a 'women’s wall’ on January 1 to protect renaissance values in the backdrop of the developments at Sabarimala. The wall will come up from Kasaragod to Thiruvananthapuram with the support of various organisations.
The Nair Service Society announced that it will not take part in the programme. Meanwhile, the SNDP Yogam decided to ensure the success of the event.
While CPM state secretary Kodiyeri Balakrishnan urged NSS to cooperate with the ‘Women’s wall’, Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan had invited it to the meeting. However, VS has now adopted a contradictory stand.
The wall is being organized by a committee having SNDP Yogam general secretary Vellapally Natesan as chairman and KPMS leader Punnala Sreekumar as convenor.
