Kozhikode: A youth was arrested here for inflicting a serious head injury on his mother-in-law on New Year's Day.
Chundemmal Lijin, 25, hailing from Kallunira, Valayam was taken into custody for harming Mahija, 48.
It is understood that the attack was a result of a domestic dispute between Lijin and his estranged wife.
The youth had brought a cake for his wife, who reportedly threw it at him. Angered by this, Lijin returned to the house and attacked his mother-in-law.
Puzhakkal, Valarpamkandi native Mahija is undergoing treatment at the Kozhikode Medical College Hospital. Lijin will be produced before the court on Monday.
