COVID: Kerala logs 4,064 new cases; TPR at 7.82%

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala logs 4,064 fresh cases of coronavirus and 9,531 recoveries from the infection on Thursday.

The active case tally has dropped to 41,675 while the Test Positivity Rate (TPR) on the day was recorded at 7.82% after 51,974 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Ernakulam logged the most number of cases (553) followed by Thiruvananthapuram (543) and Kozhikode (425).

The COVID-19 toll in Kerala has reached 64,803 after 15 recent deaths and 197 previously undocumented ones were made official by the health department on the day.

Of the fresh cases, 3,858 contracted the virus through contact while the source of infection in 162 remains unknown. Besides, 35 healthcare workers were also infected on the day in Kerala.

There are 1,27,341 under observation in Kerala, of whom 1,24,493 are in home/institutional quarantine and 2,848 in hospitals. On Thursday, 391 fresh hospitalisations were reported in Kerala.
