2,222 new COVID cases in Kerala after 36K tests on Thursday

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 2,222 new COVID cases and 4,673 recoveries on Thursday.

With this, the number of active COVID cases in the state fell to 19,051.

So far, 64,21,042 have been cured of the disease.

Of the new cases, 2,093 contracted the virus through contact while 10 came from outside the state and 25 are healthcare workers.

A total of 36,061 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Thiruvananthapuram, Ernakulam and Kottayam districts reported the most cases - 432, 354 and 213 respectively.

A total of three COVID deaths too were confirmed on Thursday.

With this, the COVID death toll in the state rose to 65,758.

There are currently 83,309 people under observation across the state.

Of them, 81,767 are under home or institutional quarantine while 1,542 are in hospitals.
