A popular Japanese dish, tempura is thickly battered and deep fried seafood or vegetable slices. It is believed to have influenced from the various fritter recipes of the Portuguese.
Ingredients
2 cups rice flour
1 tsp baking powder
1 tsp salt
Pepper powder as required
1 egg
Cold water as required
Preparation
In a bowl add rice flour, baking powder, egg, salt and pepper as required
Add cold water and mix it into a batter
Dip cleaned shrimp into this batter
Deep fry in it hot oil until crisp
Serve hot with or without a dipping sauce.
