Kottayam: In the aftermath of the heavy rain that lashed Kerala on Thursday, claiming 23 lives and causing widespread damage, several district collectors have declared a holiday on Friday for educational institutions.
The all-India trade test by the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) at Ernakulam, Idukki and Wayanad ITIs, scheduled for August 10 and 11, has been postponed.
The updated schedule of the exam will be announced later.
District-wise list of educational institutions that will remain shut:
Malappuram
Holiday declared for educational institutions, excluding professional colleges, in Nilambur, Edavanna, Orngatteri, Areekode,Kizhuparamba, Pandikkad, Vazhakkadu, Vazhayur, Muthuvallur, Cheekode in the district. Exams, scheduled for Friday, will be conducted without any change.
Ernakulam
Friday will be a holiday for all education institutions, including professional colleges, CBSE, ICSE, ISE, Kendriya Vidyalayas and Anganwadis, in Kothamangalam, Aluva, Paravur, Kunnathunadu and Kadamakkudy.
Pathanamthitta
District collector has declared a holiday for all educational institution, including professional colleges, in the district.
Wayanad
Friday will be a holiday for educational institutions, except professional colleges and model residential schools (MRS), in the district. It will be holiday for CBSE and ICSE schools and Anganvadis in the district. Earlier in the evening, the district collector had declared holiday for all educational institutions.
Kannur
District collector has declared a holiday for all educational institution, including professional colleges, in the taluks of Iritty and Thaliparambu. Kannur University has postponed all the exams scheduled for Friday. The new date will be issued later by the Controller of Examinations.
Kottayam
District collector declared a holiday for all educational institutions, including Anganwadis, in Kanjirapally and Meenachil taluks.
Idukki
Friday will be a holiday for all educational institutions in Idukki district including professional colleges.
