Kerala reports 4 fresh cases of Omicron on Saturday, tally hits 11

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala on Saturday reported four fresh cases of the Omicron variant of coronavirus taking the tally to 11.

Three of the four cases were reported among returnees from African countries while one was a 17-year-old who reached Thiruvananthapuram from the United Kingdom the other day.

A 34-year-old man from Dakshina Kannada in Karnataka who landed at Karipur from Sharjah on Friday has been confirmed with the latest variant. He has been admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital at Manjeri.

A 44-year-old man who reached Thiruvananthapuram from Tunisia, and a Thrissur-native woman, aged, 49, who landed in Kochi from Kenya via Sharjah are the others who were confirmed with the Omicron variant on the day.

 

3,297 new cases of coronavirus
Meanwhile, the state reported 3,297 fresh cases of coronavirus on the day. After 3,609 persons recovered from the infection, there are 31,901 active cases in the state.

The COVID-19-related fatalities reached 44,407 after 43 recent deaths and 175 previously undocumented ones were made official by the state health department.

The state's Test Positivity Rate (TPR) is 6.27% after 52,570 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.
