Thiruvananthapuram: A policeman drowned after the boat he was on capsized in a lake near Kadakkavur here around Saturday noon.
The deceased has been identified as Balu, a native of Punappra in Alappuzha district, who was deployed at the Special Armed Police camp.
He was 27.
The policeman was with two others, Varkala Circle Inspector and a retired cop when the boat capsized.
The accident happened while they were on their way to find 'Ottakam' Rajesh, one of the accused in the recent sensational murder case of a gangster reported from Pothencode.
The Varkala CI and the retired cop managed to swim to safety.
