COVID: Kerala reports 33,538 fresh cases, TPR at 32.6%

Thiruvananthapuram: Active cases of coronavirus infection in Kerala dropped by over 13,000 on Saturday.

While 33,538 fresh cases were reported on the day, 46,813 recoveries were confirmed leaving 3,52,399 active cases in the state.

Erankulam district had the highest number of recoveries (9,135) followed by Thiruvananthapuram, 5,911 and Kollam, 5,613.

Test Positivity Rate (TPR) dropped to 32.6% after 1,02,778 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Kerala's COVID-death tally increased to 57,740 after 422 previously undocumented fatalities were added to 22 recent ones.

Of the 5,18,481 persons under observation in Kerala, 5,08,205 are in home/institutional quarantine and 10,276 in hospitals.
On Saturday, 1,061 persons were hospitalised.

The number of daily infections among healthcare workers had a significant drop with 240 cases reported on the day.

Meanwhile, 32,500 of the fresh cases had contracted the virus through contact and the source of infection remained unknown in 651.
