7,780 new COVID cases in Kerala after 63K tests on Friday

Thiruvananthapuram: Kerala reported 7,780 new COVID cases and 21,134 recoveries on Friday.

With this, the number of active COVID cases in the state fell to 85,875.

So far, 63,06,611 have been cured of the disease.

Of the new cases, 7,124 contracted the virus through contact while 69 came from outside the state and 50 are healthcare workers.

A total of 63,192 samples were tested in the last 24 hours.

Ernakulam, Thiruvananthapuram and Kozhikode districts reported the most cases - 1403, 858 and 746 respectively.

A total of 18 COVID deaths too were confirmed on Friday.

With this, the COVID death toll in the state rose to 63,529.

There are currently 1,97,630 people under observation across the state.

Of them, 1,93,186 are under home or institutional quarantine while 4,444 are in hospitals.
