Spicy chicken majboos - how to make this Arabian biryani

Arabian chicken majboos is like a long-lost brother of our own Thalassery dum biryani. Just like the Kerala version, the rice is cooked in the spicy chicken gravy, thus giving it a delicious aroma.

Ingredients
750 gm chicken
750 gm basmati rice
1 tbsp Arabic masala
Cinnamon as required
Bay leaves as required
4 big onions
2 pieces ginger
2 tbsp ginger
2 tbsp garlic
7 green chillies
2 tomatoes
1 tbsp tomato paste
3 dry lemon
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp garam masala
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp salt
Oil

Coriander leaves

Preparation
Saute cinnamon, bay leaves and onions in a pan.
Add chopped ginger, garlic, green chillies, tomato, tomato paste and dry lemon.
Blend together turmeric powder, garam masala, Arabic masala, pepper powder and salt and add it to the pan.
Add in the chicken and mix well.
Cover and cook.
Add a little water to the chicken and cook once more.
Pick the chicken pieces out.
Pan fry the chicken and set aside.
Add basmati rice to the masala mixture and cook the rice.
When the rice is half done, add fried chicken, green chillies and coriander leaves.
Cook again for 10 minutes.

Serve with the chicken set aside.
