Banana blossom or vazhappo sukke is a Konkani dish and is very healthy. This recipe can be easily made at home.
1 banana flower finely chopped
1/2 cup sprouted moong beans
1 cup grated coconut
2 sprigs of curry leakages
1 1/2 tsp of urad dal
2 tsp roasted chana dal
1/4 tsp fenugreek seeds
1 tsp mustard seeds
1-4 tsp Hing
2 tbsp vegetable oil
Salt to taste
In a pan heat oil. Put urad dal and chana dal.
Sauté till golden brown add fenugreek/ methi seeds to it.
When the mustard seeds splutter, add curry leaves and chopped banana blossom and sprouted moong to it.
Stir well adding salt and green chillies, add less than 1/4 cup of water cover and cook for approximately 6 to 8 minutes.
Add Hing and grated coconut.
Cook for 2 more minutes and serve with white rice or chapathi .
