Brown chicken stew

This unique brown chicken stew is extremely tasty and has a velvety - creamy texture. The chicken stew would taste amazing with chapathi, roti and appam. Here is the recipe of special brown chicken stew.

Ingredients
500 gms chicken (cut into medium-sized pieces and washed)
½ tsp turmeric powder
1 tsp pepper powder
1 tsp vinegar
2 medium-sized onions (thinly sliced)
2 medium-sized potatoes (cubed)
1 tomato
4 tbsp coconut oil/sunflower oil
Salt as required
For the masala
2 pieces cinnamon
4 cloves
3 garlic cloves
1 tsp pepper powder
12 cashews

Preparation
Marinate the chicken pieces with turmeric powder, pepper powder, vinegar and salt
Keep the marinated chicken aside for at least half an hour
Heat oil in a pan and fry the onions to dark brown
Set them aside
Fry the potatoes and then the chicken pieces in the same oil
Separate some of the oil from this pan
Into it add tomatoes and sauté well
Meanwhile, grind cinnamon, cloves, garlic, pepper powder and cashews into smooth paste
Add this masala paste into sautéed tomatoes
Pour enough water and salt as well
Add the fried chicken and potatoes when the gravy begins to boils
Add half of the fried onions too; these onions give the stew its unique brown colour
Cook for 5 minutes with the lid on
Turn off the flame and keep the dish aside for at least 10 minutes for the flavours to settle
Transfer the brown chicken stew into the serving bowl
Garnish with the remaining fried onions.
