Not just kids, but grown-ups too, love to munch something crispy along with their evening tea. But they won’t be keen to have leftover idlis, dosas or appams at that point in time. Instead, crunchy, crispy bites with a touch of spiciness would be the best pick. So, let’s prepare a variety snack – pakkavada, using leftover dosa batter.

How about pouring the batter into a ‘sevanazhi’ usually used to make idiyappam? Before your eyes pop out, find out how to make this great tea-time snack. It’s simple and takes no time.

Ingredients
½ cup dosa batter
1 spoon fried idiyappam powder
½ tsp chilly powder
¼ tsp turmeric powder
1 pinch salt
1 pinch of asafoetida powder
Coconut oil
Water
Sevanazhi to prepare pakkavada

Preparation
Take half a cup of dosa batter, the leftovers from the morning
Add some fried ‘idiyappam powder’ and half a teaspoon of chilly powder to it
Add ¼ teaspoon turmeric powder, a pinch of salt and asafoetida powder
Pour some coconut oil into it
Stir well to make sure that every ingredient is well combined
Now add some water and start to knead the dough
Make sure the dough is smooth enough but not very thin, like in the case of making idiyappams
The presence of dosa batter will ensure the crispness of the snack
Since no gram flour is being added, it also avoids the risk of acidity
Take the ‘sevanazhi’ and stuff it in the dough
Heat some oil and drop the dough into it by turning the liver
Fry on both sides till it turns golden brown and crisp
Drain off the oil and serve crispy pakkavadas hot!
