Bored of eating regular porotta? Try this healthy pumpkin porotta

Porotta is undoubtedly one of the favorite food items of Keralites. However, porotta which is cooked using all-purpose flour and lots of oil isn’t considered a healthy dish. Meanwhile, pumpkin is loaded with antioxidants, fiber, vitamins, and minerals. Here is an interesting recipe for pumpkin porotta that tastes good and is healthy too.

Ingredients
400 gms pumpkin
¼ cup water
Salt as required
4 cups all-purpose flour
Oil as required

Preparation
Remove the skin and cut the pumpkin into big chunks
Cook the pumpkin pieces in a pressure cooker with ¼ cup water until four whistles
After it cools down, blend the cooked pumpkin along with the cooking water in a mixer jar
Transfer the pumpkin puree to a huge bowl
Add salt
Now add the all-purpose flour slowly
Mix into a soft dough
Rub a teaspoon of oil, cover using a lid or a piece of cloth and keep aside for at least an hour
Now make eight balls from the dough
Grease a rolling board or countertop nicely with oil
Roll the balls into thin sheets
Rub oil on these dough sheets
Sprinkle some all-purpose flour too
Using a knife, cut thin strips
Hold these strips together and roll them into a coil
Rub some oil on your fingers and gently press on these coils to make porotta
Cook on a hot pan
Sprinkle oil to make porotta crispy
Tasty and healthy pumpkin porotta is ready!
