A Sindhi bread, the crispy crunchy pakwan is often served with various chutneys of choice. But, it also tastes great on itself and can be a fun meal on Deepavali day. Here's how you prepare this interesting dish.
Ingredients
¾ cup of wheat powder
¼ cup maida or refined wheat powder
Salt (as required)
½ cup thick ghee
Rice powder (as required)
Preparation
Combine wheat powder with maida
Knead it into a semi-thick dough by adding salt and water, little by little
Mix some rice powder in ghee, and spread the ghee mix over the dough
Cut the dough into 1.5-inch long strips using a knife and take some three to four such strips
Keep each one over the other so that the longest strip comes at the bottom
Now roll the strips gently and press them into small poori-sized pieces
Heat sufficient oil in a kadai for deep frying
Fry these bits in medium-hot oil till they become golden and crisp
While deep-frying, keep pouring the hot oil over the pakwan using a slotted spoon
The bits will come apart in different layers.
Now serve the dish hot
